During the event, Dr. Wes Xiaodong LIN, Associate Professor in Global Sustainable Development at the University of Warwick, was invited to share his experiences as the Editor-in-Chief of The Sociological Review. The seminar offered a unique opportunity for academics and postgraduate students to gain insights into the intricacies of publishing local research in international journals.
Dr. Lin shared his extensive experience and expertise on the subject, focusing on several key areas. Firstly, he delved into the publishing and peer review process, offering a behind-the-scenes look at what editors and reviewers expect from submissions. This included a detailed discussion on the preparation of manuscripts, from structuring research ideas to ensuring that the manuscript meets the high standards required by international journals. In particular, Dr. Lin shared his insights on how to leverage local case studies to make a global impact and emphasized the importance of contextualizing local research within international debates. Additionally, Dr. Lin provided practical tips for successful publication, including strategies for responding to reviewers' comments effectively.
